Jacek Stachowski

I am a patent attorney with 4 years of experience – however, having grown up in a family of patent attorneys, I have been in contact with intellectual property issues for many years.

So far, I have prepared over 50 patent applications and utility models filed with the Polish Patent Office – mainly in the field of mechanics, construction of machines, tools and devices, spatial structures, roofing, but also in the field of environmental technology or electronics. The portfolio of cases I have handled also includes international PCT applications and national phase proceedings in designated countries. In addition, I have experience in conducting patent searches, FTO searches, opinions and searches forming part of the documentation accompanying grant applications, patentability searches.

I also specialise in business valuation issues, I have completed post-graduate studies in the field of business valuation, which allows me to perform reliable and substantive valuations of both capital companies, partnerships or sole proprietorships, as well as industrial property rights. As part of this subject, I have also estimated the value at risk (VaR) using my own methods of estimating the value and probability of occurrence of risks and valuing trademarks and patents – in order to determine their book value for the company or fair market value in terms of business transactions. I have also prepared, at the request of the court, an estimate of the extent of the damage in the fight against unfair competition for the purposes of the court’s decision on the appropriate sanction in the context of ongoing criminal proceedings.

In my professional work, I combine and apply the skills of a patent attorney and an expert witness.

I advise companies, inventors and universities and give thematic training in both IP and valuation.

Business development is inextricably linked to intellectual property issues and affects the level of security of the client’s interests. My work is guided by simple principles: attention, accuracy, efficiency, professionalism and honesty. Unconventional thinking is also not unusual for me.
